Course Details
The WWO Essentials course combines active, practical activities and reflective practice, with a rigorous research and theoretical understanding. The content addresses:
Developing Trust as a Fundamental Starting Point
Exploring the fundamental principles of the Working With Others approach, practitioners participate in activities that explore how to develop the concept of trust, so that children can build positive relationships as a foundation for collaboration. There are opportunities for practitioners to share good practice and identify challenges as well as support in using practical strategies to promote trusting relationships. We also look at how these principles can be incorporated into curriculum planning for more effective cooperation and learning between pupils.
Promoting Positive Communication
With practical activities and reflection we look at how developing children’s verbal and non verbal communication impacts on relationships and collaborative learning. We also consider the role of emotional literacy and teaching children assertiveness skills.
Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution
Practitioners will gain some experience of tasks and strategies to develop independent problem solving, higher order thinking skills and creativity across the curriculum, as independent learners and on the playground.
The WWO Essentials Course includes:
