Press Release
University of Brighton 06/07/07
Gossops Green Community Primary School, Crawley is the 100th school in Sussex to begin benefiting from a teaching technique developed by Working With Others, a successful spin out company from the School of Education at the University of Brighton.
The WWO approach helps pupils to take greater responsibility for their learning and how they interact with each other in both the classroom and the playground – all of the essential life skills that are being encouraged by a number of current Government initiatives.
Dawn Martin, Headteacher, said: “We know from the success that WWO has had in many other local schools that their training and supervision will support our staff team with practical strategies and ideas to help pupils develop the vocabulary and communication skills they need for life.”
Since 2004 Working With Others has trained over 1,250 teachers, more than 1,250 teaching assistants and supported in excess of 27,000 pupils across West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton & Hove and many of the participating schools have seen a significant impact on their OFSTED reports and achieved Healthy Schools Awards.
