Overview of the one day course:
From their complimentary insights, Cathy and James will help delegates to develop a deeper understanding of the barriers and behaviour that prevent children from being able to engage with and work with peers.

They will be sharing expert advice on understanding behaviours and challenges, as well as offering practical steps and strategies for building positive relationships with your students and children.

Cathy and James will outline strategies that can be used for one to one work and small groups, that support children in developing confidence, understanding and awareness of how to engage and work with peers, explaining:

  • how emotions and emotional literacy, as well as developing self regulation, can help create independence and the first steps towards being able to engage with others
  • how you can support and bridge successful peer to peer interactions
  • how these can be developed into peer to peer learning, independent of adult support

The day will be practical and interactive, with small group work and an opportunity to bring your own cases, build your own action plan, and share ideas and good practice.
