Teachers

Working With Others helps teachers extend their professional practice as a dynamic facilitator with their class.  As a result they are able to:

  • create a happier and more motivated learning classroom climate where pupils self-regulate and support eachother
  • build positive and richer relationships with their pupils
  • focus on teaching and learning rather than behaviour management and 'crowd control'
a lot of realistic, practical activities and resources that can be easily used in the classroom

The Working With Others approach promotes independent learners who have positive attitude to learning and being part of their class group. Teachers regularly report feeling proud that their class is able to work together, treat everyone in their class with respect and say positive things about each other.

Through a range of Membership Packages WWO training helps teachers extend how they use groups in the classroom.  It supports learning in groups across all curriculum area, by providing ideas and strategies on:

  • organising groups
  • randomly mixing and supporting pupils in being able to work with anyone else
  • structuring collaborative tasks so that all pupils learn and are actively engaged and involved
it has developed my whole philosophy of teaching and I now see myself as a facilitator enabling children to become autonomous learners

Practitioners are able to teach pupils key skills that will improve learning and build inclusie positie relationships between all pupils.  It also enables teachers to equip pupils with essential skills for life, including how to manage their emotional well being, engage as part of a team and effectively communicate with others.

Each participating school nominates a WWO co-ordinator from the staff team who provides day-to-day support and ideas for other staff. Co-ordinators have the opportunity to regularly meet each term with other WWO coordinators in the area, for support and share ideas.

Teaching vacancies across the South are increasingly advertised with WWO experience as either an advantage or essential criteria.
