Early Years Research Now Underway
19 early years settings are now on board as the research team at Brighton embark on an 18 month project developing developing group work and the skills of working with others in early years. Drawing from both school-based and private nurseries, as well as reception classes, the team are working with practitioners from West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton & Hove. Throughout this term preliminary data is being collected in preparation for 2005-6. Throughout 2005 -2006 the team are planning a year of
- research
- data collection with practitioners and in classrooms
- practioner training, support and supervision
- training of children aged 4-5 years.
Representatives from Brighton will be meeting up in June with European colleagues on the Socrates research programme. This 5-day meeting will be held in Sweden, where directors from each of the particpating countries, will exchange initial results from their respective countries and map a way forward for the coming year.
Initial findings will be presented by the unit as part of the Working With Others 2nd Annual Conference to be held June 22nd 2005.
